RECONSTRUCTION OF DOSS ALLEY SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 2024

October 4, 2024

Hanover, York County, Pa. – The Borough of Hanover in Hanover, Pa., York County, Department of Planning and Engineering has announced that reconstruction of a portion of Doss Alley from Frederick Street to Exchange Place will commence in early October, continuing through November. The project, which is being done by Shiloh Paving & Excavating, Inc., involves demolition of the existing paved alley surface, replacing it with a new brick paver surface (with subsurface stormwater storage).

The Doss Alley project is being funded through a York County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) as a pilot project for an expanded pedestrian ring encircling Hanover’s downtown. The concept was developed in the 2018 Overall Streetscape Study and was reinforced in the 2022 Streetscape Study. The project ties into the ongoing site improvements associated with the 33 and 44 Frederick Street capital building projects, creating an overall cohesive design unifying the administrative and public safety functions of the Borough.
