Borough of Hanover to Hold Public Informational Meeting: TURNING WASTE INTO RESILIENCE, RENEWAL, AND REVENUE

The Hanover Borough Stormwater Authority will hold a special public informational meeting on April 8, 2025, at 6:00PM in the Borough Council Chambers, at 44 Frederick Street (lower level), to share details on an exciting new project: Cleaner Water. Greener Streets. Stronger Communities. TURNING WASTE INTO RESILIENCE, RENEWAL, AND REVENUE

This meeting will introduce a forward-thinking approach that uses advanced technology, funded through a community public-private partnership, to turn local waste into valuable resources. Through this model, Hanover plans to meet new environmental regulations, reduce stormwater runoff and generate up to $1.2 million annually in non-tax revenue to fund flood and green infrastructure projects throughout the Borough and on Borough owned properties.

The project includes a proposed Resource Recovery Facility to be located at the former Regional WWTP, near Ram Drive. The facility will convert biosolids and other organic waste into biochar, clean energy, and carbon credits — supporting both local water quality and stormwater goals.
