God's Meal Barrel Combats the Increased Community Need & Launches Appeal to Support Growing Demand
Hanover, PA – God's Meal Barrel, a nonprofit food pantry, has announced its 2025 annual
appeal letter. Following one of the most demanding years in history, it's essential to keep
receiving donations. This year, the organization provided food assistance to more than 2,400
families, including over 10,000 children, adults, and seniors.
The need escalated significantly after SNAP benefits paused on November 1st, creating urgent
gaps for families who had never previously needed help. "We saw an immediate surge in
demand," said the Managing Director of God's Meal Barrel. "Thanks to the generosity of our
donors, everyone who walked through our doors received food, dignity, and hope."
A typical donation provides families with four bags of essential groceries, valued at roughly
$60, often representing the difference between going without and getting by. The pantry
operates with minimum qualifications or paperwork required, staying true to its mission of
feeding all who need.
As the organization prepares for 2026, God's Meal Barrel is seeking community financial
support to grow its reserve fund to move closer to a larger facility that can meet rising demand.
"Our mission is simple: to ensure no neighbor faces hunger," said the Director. "Every gift, no
matter the size, makes an immediate impact."
Food donations can be made during pantry hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to
12 p.m.) through the rear drop box at 240 Frederick Street, or on the first Saturday of each
month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Additional donation arrangements can be made by phone.
