“Cookie Crew” Brings Sweet Holiday Cheer to UPMC Magee-Womens Units Across Central Pa.

HARRISBURG, PA. (Dec 22, 2025) — UPMC Magee-Womens in central Pennsylvania is celebrating the holiday season with heartwarming traditions in its nurseries. Newborns were dressed in bright red onesies topped with gingerbread cookie hats, lovingly hand-knit by volunteers from the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation.

Adding to the joy, a parade of 12 therapy dogs in festive attire greeted patients and families in the UPMC Harrisburg lobby before visiting the maternity ward, where they met newborns in their holiday outfits. The event brought smiles and comfort to families and staff during this special time of year.

“The holidays are a time of joy and togetherness, and we love creating memorable experiences for our patients and their families,” said Alexandra Harrison, clinical director, UPMC Magee-Womens in Harrisburg. “Seeing newborns in their festive outfits and therapy dogs spreading cheer truly made the day special for everyone.”

UPMC Magee-Womens at UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Carlisle, and UPMC Lititz were recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as 2026 High Performing Hospitals for Maternity Care—the highest award in its annual maternity care rankings.
