Job Description

Hanover Land Services, Inc. (HLS), a growing Surveying and Civil Engineering firm, is looking to expand our team in our Hanover, PA and Westminster, MD offices. We are looking to fill the position of entry level survey helper.   The person hired for this position must be dependable, punctual, hard working, and have a desire to learn.  He/she will primarily work outside and must have a good driving record.  This position could have the opportunity for advancement and to build a life-long career in the field of surveying.

If hired for this position, you will initially be a survey field assistant.  You will typically be assisting as part of a 2 or 3 person survey crew.  This will mean learning to work with the survey equipment (including survey total station including electronic data collector, robotic survey equipment, and GPS),  but could mean cutting brush, taking notes, pounding stakes, digging holes, etc.  You will be training to earn your first promotion to the position of Survey Instrument Operator.  There is potential to build a life long career in surveying. 
You will often be driving to work on projects  in the Baltimore/Washington area.  You will be paid for travel time from our office and would typically be driving a company vehicle but may sometimes be paid for mileage to drive your own vehicle.  You will also sometimes complete office tasks such as delivering plans, filing, etc.  You will sometimes be working with surveyors from other companies.  You will be working outside in all temperatures but typically not rain or snow.   The hours for this position vary some but are typically 7 AM to 4 PM.  The hours may be longer in the summer.  You will be paid time and a half for all hours worked over 40 in a week.  Occasional weekend work may be requested.
