Instructor Deb Smith explores life in Germany before 1933 and the factors that led to the Holocaust. This course will cover the period from the Weimar Republic (1919-1933) up to the start of WWII in 1938. Topics covered include the appointment of Adolph Hitler as German chancellor; the establishment of the first concentration camps; and the effects of regulations that restricted public and private life for Jews. This is a 4-part class that will take place September 9, 12, 16, & 19, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm. There is a $20 registration fee for the class (includes all 4 sessions). Book required for the class: The World Must Know by Michael Berenbaum, available on Amazon for $17.99. (She will be offering part 2 of this class in the beginning of 2020, same book will be required) Deb Smith is a retired teacher from the Hanover Public School District and holds a masters degree in Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
