Delone Catholic High School is proud to announce the appointment of Brady Slater, MS, ACSM-CEP®, LAT, ATC, CSCS, to the newly created position of Director of Athletic Performance & Human Performance Sciences.

In this multifaceted role, Slater will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive strength-and-conditioning program for all student-athletes. Beyond the weight room, he will bridge athletics and academics by building a specialized academic and career pathway in exercise science, sports medicine, and human performance. This innovative program is designed to integrate elite athletic preparation, structured academic coursework, and student wellness, directly supporting Delone Catholic’s core mission of forming the whole person—spiritually, morally, personally, and academically.

Slater brings over three decades of advanced clinical, educational, and athletic experience to Delone Catholic. A well-known figure in the South-Central Pennsylvania health and sports communities, he spent 25 years as the Medical Fitness & Employee Wellness Coordinator for UPMC Hanover (formerly Hanover Hospital), where he launched and managed a one-of-a-kind medical fitness program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brady Slater to the Delone Catholic family," said Principal David Staub ?94, P?25, P?28. "His unique blend of high-level clinical expertise, collegiate and high school teaching background, and extensive coaching experience makes him uniquely qualified to launch this program. He won't just be training our athletes to win; he will be teaching our students the actual science behind human performance, opening doors for their future careers."

A Proven Leader in Health Sciences and Athletics

Slater’s extensive background spans elite clinical settings, classroom instruction, and competitive athletics:

  • Academic Leadership | Slater served as an Adjunct Instructor, Human Performance Lab Director, and Program Developer at Carroll Community College, where he received a grant to develop the Associate of Arts curriculum in Health and Exercise Science. He has also taught in Baltimore County Public Schools and served as a graduate assistant within the Sports Medicine Department at Marshall University.
  • Elite Sports Medicine | In 1996, Slater was selected to serve on the USOC Athletic Trainer Sports Medicine Team for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials. He has provided athletic training coverage for multiple colleges, high schools, clubs, and regional tournaments across the Mid-Atlantic.
  • Championship Coaching | An accomplished coach in both soccer and lacrosse, Slater was named the YAIAA Division 1 High School Boys Soccer Coach of the Year and received the Sportsmanship Award at South Western High School in 2017. He also helped to develop and served as the Head Coach of Carroll Community College’s first men’s lacrosse program.

Slater lives locally in Hanover with his wife and enjoys an active lifestyle centered around fitness, the outdoors, and quality time with his family. Whether training for his next event, taking on new challenges, golfing with his three sons, or relaxing at the beach, he values health, adventure, and staying connected to his community.

The Delone Catholic community looks forward to the launch of this program under Slater's leadership, setting a new regional standard for integrating athletics and academics in high school.
